Showday training Webinars
Whether you're in the outback, in the bush or somewhere in between, so long as you've got a computer you can join a training session for just yourself or up to ten participants. Times for sessions are agreed beforehand and attendees are reminded on the day. Some of the important features of this Webinar training are:
Need some training?
If you are using Showday and want some hands-on training send us an email to arrange a time indicating what it is that you would like to learn. We will fix a mutually convenient time.
Thinking of using Showday and not sure whether it would work for you?
A Webinar is a great way to get a feel for how Showday works and get some hands-on experience without actually having it installed on your computer. Ask any questions that you like. Get advice one-on-one or arrange a group session if that suits you better. We would be very happy to run through any features of Showday that you want to look at. Please send us an email with your suggestions
Setting your computer up for training
You will need some speakers to hear the presentation and a microphone to talk to the presenter. Most computers now have built in speakers and microphone but if you haven't got a microphone they are now very reasonably priced and easy to install.
Verbal communications are handled by Skype. If you haven't got Skype on your computer you first need to install it. The free version of Skype can be downloaded from here: Skype Download.
Screen display is handled by Mikogo. To get your free copy of Mikogo go to Mikogo Download and click on the Free Download button. As soon as Mikogo has downloaded it will start up and an icon will display in the task bar. This is the icon that you will use to join a training session. By default Mikogo will start up automatically each time you start your computer. If you don't want it to do this, click the Mikogo icon in the taskbar, pick the settings option and remove the tick against "Load Mikogo at startup". When you are ready to join a session you can now start Mikogo using the desktop shortcut and the taskbar icon will then re-appear.
Joining a training session
At the time the training session is due to start the presenter will call you using Skype. Once voice contact has been made the session will be activated and the instructor will give you the session id. You can now click Join Session on the Mikogo menu and enter the session id. You will immediately see the presenter's screen on your computer.
Playing an active role
When you want to take control and try a few things out for yourself the presenter will pass control to you. You are now making changes on the presenter's computer just as if it was yours and the presenter can guide you through any tricky parts using the voice connection. That's all there is to it!
